I began my carpentry journey in 2010 with a cabinet-making apprenticeship, learning traditional skills in cabinetry and joinery that focus on quality and unique craftsmanship. During my apprenticeship, I won the carpentry section at the South of England show and was named "Young Craftsman of the Year" in 2012. While this brought job offers, my true interest lay in larger projects, which I lacked experience in at the time.

After completing my apprenticeship, I worked on gaining experience on large domestic projects, gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of carpentry. Later, I transitioned into shop fitting, where I worked long hours, met tight deadlines, and travelled nationwide. This experience fuelled my passion for this type of work and gave me valuable industry contacts.

In September 2020, JLI Contractors was founded. Starting with a few clients and a talented team, we’ve grown to work with high-end brands across various sectors.
